Did they open it?
Get an email the moment they do.
Send a proposal, a deck or a file as a tracked link and Track Link emails you when it is opened: when, from which city, on what device. You choose which links, and how often.
Quick answer
To get notified when someone opens a link, send them a tracked short link and turn on an alert for it. Track Link emails you on every open, or once every N clicks, with the time, the city and country, the device and the referring site. Bots and link previews are filtered out first. Alerts come with Agency (50 emails a month) and Business (200 a month).

How it works
Someone opens your link
The click goes through your short link, so it is recorded before they reach the file or page. On a paid plan they go straight through; nothing tells them a link was tracked.
Bots are taken out first
Link previews in Slack, WhatsApp and iMessage, search crawlers and traffic from cloud servers are filtered before an alert is even considered. Those never reach your inbox.
Your rule decides
On every open, you get an email per open. On every N clicks, the clicks are counted and you hear once the count is reached, then it starts again.
Two rules, one per link
Alerts are off for every link until you choose one. Each link can have one alert, and you can pause or change it at any time.
On every open
A link sent to one person or one team
A proposal, a quote, a contract, a CV, a property listing, an investor deck.
Every N clicks
A link shared widely
A post, a newsletter, a QR code on a poster or a pack. Every 100 scans, every 1,000 clicks: you choose, from 2 to 100,000.

What it can't tell you
Worth knowing before you act on an alert.
It tells you the link was opened, not who opened it.
Anyone holding the link can open it, including someone it was forwarded to. If it matters who, send each person their own link: then an open on that link can only be theirs, or someone they passed it to.
Location comes from the IP address.
Country is usually right and the city is usually close, but a VPN, a mobile network or a company network can put someone in the wrong place. Treat the city as a hint, not a fact.
Some email scanners open links first.
Company mail systems, Microsoft's Safe Links among them, can open every link in an incoming message to check it. Those that run on the big cloud providers are filtered; others can send an alert. An open seconds after your email arrives is most likely a scanner.
Alerts are capped, opens are not.
Agency includes 50 alert emails a month and Business 200, and one link sends at most 6 an hour. Past either limit the opens are still recorded; you just stop getting emails until the limit resets.
How to set it up
- 1Create a tracked link to the thing you are sending: a proposal, a deck, a file, a listing, a page.
- 2Open Alerts in the dashboard, click New alert and pick that link.
- 3Choose a rule: an email on every open, or one email every so many clicks.
- 4Send the link. The next real open lands in your inbox.
Sending on behalf of a client? Put the link on their domain with a white-label short link, so the person opening it sees their brand, not ours.
Link open alerts FAQ
Can I get a notification when someone clicks my link?
Yes. Turn on an alert for that link and Track Link emails you when it is opened, with the time, the city and country, the device and browser, and the site the click came from. Alerts are off for every link until you switch one on.
Is it free?
Open alerts are part of Agency ($49/mo, 50 alert emails a month) and Business ($149.99/mo, 200 a month). Every plan, including the free one, records every open, so you can always check the link's page or the live view yourself.
Does the person opening the link know?
No notice is shown about the alert. On paid plans the visitor is sent straight to the destination; on the free plan every visit shows a short Track Link notice first, which is one reason alerts start on paid plans.
Can I get the alert in Slack or my CRM instead of email?
Use a webhook for that. Webhooks fire on every click, carry the same details as the email, and don't count against the alert limit. They come with the same plans.
Does it work for QR codes?
Yes. A QR code made in Track Link is a tracked link, so a scan is an open. Use the every-N rule on printed codes so a busy day doesn't fill your inbox.
What about pixels in emails?
You can put an alert on a pixel, and an open is the image loading. Some mail apps load images as the message arrives, so for documents and proposals a link is the more reliable signal.
Who gets the email in a team workspace?
The member who turned the alert on. If they leave the workspace, the alert goes to the workspace owner.
