What are meta tags?

Meta tags are HTML elements that provide structured metadata about a web page. They live in the <head> section of your HTML and tell search engines, social platforms, and browsers how to interpret and display your content.

<meta name="description">

A brief summary of the page content. Appears as the snippet below the title in search engine results pages (SERPs).

<meta name="keywords">

A comma-separated list of keywords relevant to the page. Most search engines no longer use this for ranking, but some platforms still reference it.

<link rel="canonical">
