What you see, and what you don't

You see

  • The time of every click, and whether it's a new visitor or someone coming back
  • Country and city, worked out from the network, so roughly where rather than an address
  • Phone or computer, the browser and the operating system
  • The app or site the click came from, when that app passes it on

You don't see

  • Names or accounts. If you need to know who, send each person their own link
  • An exact location, unless the person chooses to share it through a Pinpoint link
  • IP addresses. We use them to place a click on the map and don't show them
  • Chat previews and bots. WhatsApp or iMessage loading a preview isn't counted as an open

Is it free?

Yes. Free covers 10 links and 1,500 clicks a month, with no credit card. You sign in with Google or Microsoft so your links are kept in your account.

Will the person know the link is tracked?

On Free, they see a 2-second Track Link notice before the page opens. On Starter and up, they go straight to the page.

Can I see who opened my link?

Not by name. You see when, roughly where, and on what device. To know which person opened it, send each of them a separate link.

Can I get someone's exact location?

Only if they agree. A Pinpoint link shows them who is asking and why, and their phone asks for permission before anything is shared. Using it to track someone without their knowledge is not allowed.

Does a WhatsApp preview count as an open?

No. Previews from WhatsApp, iMessage, Slack and other apps, and search engine crawlers, are filtered out before they are counted.
