Set up ClickBank tracking
Once per ClickBank account. New hoplinks only need step 1.
1. Add unique_aff_sub1 to your hoplink
Create a Track Link link with your ClickBank hoplink as the destination and add unique_aff_sub1={click_id}. The Links page spots ClickBank and offers to add it for you. Every visitor then reaches ClickBank with their own click ID.
2. Paste the postback URL into ClickBank
Open Conversions in Track Link, pick ClickBank and copy the postback URL. Then open ClickBank → Integrations → Postback/Pixels → Add Integration → Custom Postback/Pixel, paste it and save.
3. Pick the right triggers
Select Initial Purchase and Upsell Purchase only. Combined Conversion counts upsells twice, and order-form events aren't sales. ClickBank reports earnings in USD. Refunds don't arrive by postback.
4. Test with your own click
Press Test in ClickBank's Postback/Pixels page: the setup guide on the Conversions page confirms it arrived. Then open your link and press Simulate a sale to check the click ID makes it through.

What each ClickBank macro does

Upsells count once each
Every receipt is its own conversion, so a front-end sale plus two upsells shows as three — and a ClickBank retry of the same receipt is ignored.
Revenue is your commission
{affiliate_earnings} is what ClickBank pays you, not the product price, so revenue and ROI per link show what you actually earn.

Where do I paste the postback URL in ClickBank?
In ClickBank → Integrations → Postback/Pixels → Add Integration → Custom Postback/Pixel. Select Initial Purchase and Upsell Purchase only. Combined Conversion counts upsells twice, and order-form events aren't sales. ClickBank reports earnings in USD. Refunds don't arrive by postback.
What does Track Link receive from ClickBank?
The click ID from unique_aff_sub1, your commission in USD, the receipt number and the event type. That is enough to put the sale on the right click, show the commission as revenue, and count each upsell once. ClickBank doesn't send refunds by postback, so refunds stay in ClickBank's own reports.
Should I use aff_sub1 or unique_aff_sub1 for the click ID?
unique_aff_sub1. ClickBank's tracking-parameter docs say aff_sub1 to aff_sub5 are for values that repeat, like a campaign name, and that unique values sent there at volume may be dropped from reporting. A click ID is unique on every click, so it belongs in unique_aff_sub1. Links that already use aff_sub1 keep working with a postback that reads {aff_sub1}.
Do I need a pixel on the vendor's sales page?
No. The vendor owns the sales page, so you can't install anything there — and you don't need to. The postback goes from ClickBank's server to Track Link, so ad blockers and closed tabs can't lose the sale.
Why does my postback show 'Macro not filled'?
ClickBank sent the text {unique_aff_sub1} instead of a click ID. That happens when the visitor's hoplink didn't carry unique_aff_sub1 — check that your Track Link destination has unique_aff_sub1={click_id}, not a fixed value, and that the postback reads the same field.
Can I see which ad or placement made the ClickBank sale?
Yes. Use one Track Link link per placement or ad (or add UTM tags to it). Each sale lands on the click that made it, so revenue shows per link, per UTM source and per campaign.
