NewsBreak conversion tracking
for offers you don't own.

NewsBreak can only optimise for the conversions it sees — and on an affiliate offer, it sees none. Track Link records the sale from your network and sends it back to NewsBreak with the original click's callback ID and your payout.

Quick answer

To track NewsBreak conversions on an affiliate offer, end your ad URL with ?nb_cid=__CALLBACK_PARAM__, put {click_id} in the offer's sub-ID field, and add your network's postback to Track Link. When the sale arrives, Track Link sends it to NewsBreak's conversion endpoint with the stored callback ID and the payout.

How the sale gets back to NewsBreak

Ad click → Track Link → offer → network → Track Link → NewsBreak.

1. Point the ad at your short link

Use a Track Link short link as the ad's URL and end it with ?nb_cid=__CALLBACK_PARAM__. NewsBreak replaces the macro with a callback ID for every click, and Track Link stores it with that click.

2. Carry the click into the offer

Set the short link's destination to your affiliate link with {click_id} in the network's sub-ID field — for ClickBank that's unique_aff_sub1={click_id}. The network now knows which click made each sale.

3. Record the sale from the network

Paste your Track Link postback URL into the affiliate network. When a sale is approved, it lands on the click — with the NewsBreak callback ID still attached. This part works on every plan.

4. Send it to NewsBreak

On Pro+ plans, open Conversions → Send conversions to your traffic source, pick NewsBreak and paste the endpoint from NewsBreak Ads Manager → Events → Event management → your postback event. Track Link fills in the callback ID and payout, and the setup guide walks you through a test before going live.

Ad URL in NewsBreak

NewsBreak endpoint (sale) in Track Link

https://business.newsbreak.com/tracking/attribute?callback={source_click_id}&event_type=complete_payment&nb_value={payout}

{source_click_id} becomes the NewsBreak callback ID and {payout} your commission. Setting up the network side? Start with postback tracking or the ClickBank guide.

Check the endpoint against your NewsBreak account

The endpoint above follows the format published in a tracker's NewsBreak integration guide, not NewsBreak's own documentation. Copy the exact URL NewsBreak shows you in NewsBreak Ads Manager → Events → Event management → your postback event and set event_type to match the event your campaign optimises for. Then use Send test with the test ID from NewsBreak's event manager, not a real visitor's callback ID, which NewsBreak would count as a sale. The response is logged so you can see whether NewsBreak accepted it.

NewsBreak tracking FAQ

What is __CALLBACK_PARAM__?

It's NewsBreak's click macro. NewsBreak swaps it for a unique callback ID on every ad click. To credit a conversion to that click, NewsBreak needs the same ID back — which is why Track Link stores it from the nb_cid parameter and returns it with the sale.

Do I need the NewsBreak pixel?

Not for affiliate offers. The pixel has to run on the page where the purchase happens, and that page belongs to the advertiser. The server-to-server path uses the callback ID instead, so nothing needs to be installed on the offer.

Which plan do I need?

Recording the sale from your affiliate network is free on every plan. Sending it on to NewsBreak is part of Pro+, along with the postback log.

Can I send leads as well as sales?

Yes. The NewsBreak preset has separate sale and lead endpoints, each with its own event_type.

Which sales get sent?

Approved sales by default, or pending ones too if your network approves slowly. Each sale is sent once, so a pending sale that gets approved isn't counted twice. Refunds and declines aren't sent as purchases, and failed sends are retried for about two hours. If three sales in a row can't be sent, you get a notification and an email; after 15 the forward switches itself off until you turn it back on.

Does this work with other traffic sources?

Yes — the same flow works with Taboola, Outbrain, MGID, PropellerAds, Zeropark, ExoClick, RevContent, each with its own click-ID parameter and postback format.
